Dear Brunch Gang,
My basketball team is looking to get together for a group brunch. There will be anywhere from 6-12 of us. We’re not the quietest group, and we enjoy throwing back a few
Do you have any recommendations for this hungry bunch of ballers?
Sincerely,
Ballin’ for Brunch

Dear Ballin’ for Brunch,
Brunch Gang loves a good group brunch, and there are plenty of solid places to choose from in NYC. Since you guys enjoy a certain type of beverage, I think your best bet is to do an AYCD brunch. So, grab your friends and clear your schedule because brunching with a large group is quite the all-day experience.
Two places that come to mind for you and your teammates are Poco in the East Village and Kittchai (check out Erica’s review) in the South Village. We’ve been to both for birthday brunches and had a great time at each restaurant. At Poco, pay $25 for an entrée and unlimited drinks like red and white sangria, mimosas and bloody Marys. They have a downstairs dining area that can easily accommodate large groups. Kittichai offers a $24.95 prix-fixe menu that includes blood orange mimosas, lychée bellinis and spicy bloody Marys for two hours!
Café Cortadito would also be up your team’s alley. They have fantastic food, the drinks are always flowing, and they let you brunch for as long as you want. When we checked it out, we were there for four hours! Also, they serve their brunch cocktails — red and white sangria, blood orange and guava mimosas and bloody Marys — in carafes. A brunch dish and bottomless drinks are $21 per person (or $26 for a party of six or more). The restaurant is on the small side, but they have a dining area in the back for large groups, which would be perfect for your gang!
If you’re looking for more of a party atmosphere — where a DJ spins tunes during brunch — Paradou may be the place for you. Although we haven’t been to Meatpacking District spot yet, they also have an AYCD deal: Unlimited champagne cocktails plus dish for $29 for parties of 1-7; $35 for parties of 8-11; $45 for groups of 12-20.
Brunch hard off the court!
Slam dunk for brunch,
Brunch Gang
