Dear Brunch Gang: Weekday brunch

25 Jan

Dear Brunch Gang,

I work on most weekends, so I was looking to check out brunch on a weekday. When I search for restaurants, I only find places that have strict menus which offer breakfast before 12 p.m. and lunch after 12 p.m. Please tell me there are restaurants that offer brunch on weekdays!

Sincerely,
Desperate for Brunch

Dear Desperate for Brunch,

That is a bummer you can’t enjoy a good weekend brunch. We all know that brunch is not the same without both breakfast and lunch options! Luckily, we are here to help you find a solid brunch spot.

Turkey Hash at Good Enough To Eat

Jen and Stephanie brunched at Good Enough To Eat on the Upper West Side, and they were impressed with the food and drinks. The Turkey Hash is a large and delicious dish of comfort food that will keep you stuffed for hours. Just a warning: This place is very popular, so you may have to wait a short time for a table on a weekday.

5 Ninth’s Short Rib Benedict

Located in the Meatpacking District is 5 Ninth, which offers American dishes with a Spanish twist. Are you an eggs Benedict fan who is looking for something different? If so, the short rib Benedict is their most popular dish, and as Erica can attest, it is as good as it sounds.

If you are looking for a restaurant in Brooklyn, try visiting Thistle Hill Tavern. Lots of people rave about the dish “The Breakfast” which consists of bacon, a huge ricotta-herb pancake and egg. YUM!

Many brunch fans believe the breakfast and lunch foods offered at the The Turning Point are so delicious that it’s worth the trip uptown in Hoboken. Make sure you arrive early because they close at 3 p.m. Anthony David’s in Hoboken also offers weekday brunch. Check out the review to see which dishes are a must.

Pumpkin pancakes with cinnamon yogurt at Cafe Orlin

Cafe Orlin is a great place to check on the Lower East Side. They have an extensive menu and serve all breakfast items until 4 p.m. Fortunately, not only will you be avoiding the weekend crowd, but you will save a little bit of money as the weekday menu is slightly cheaper than the weekend menu. If you are a pancake lover, Victoria recommends ordering the pumpkin pancakes.

Coppelia and Eolo are Chelsea spots that also serve brunch on weekdays. Not only does Coppelia serve brunch on weekdays, but they’re open 24 hours. If that’s not enough, their brunch fare is very tasty and cheap. If you want a relaxing and quiet brunch, Eolo is the spot for you. Jen enjoyed a leisurely solo brunch of iced coffee and an omelette there.

If you’re looking for even more weekday brunch suggestions, we’ve added a new weekday brunch designation on our Find a Brunch Spot page. Weekday brunches are great because you can avoid the crazy wait time and enjoy reading a newspaper while eating. Since you can’t relax on the weekends, you deserve to sit back and enjoy a leisurely brunch on a weekday!

Cheers to weekday mimosas,
Brunch Gang

FYI, Virage no longer does brunch during the week, only Saturdays and Sundays.
