Dear Brunch Gang: DMB Caravan brunching

By on August 23, 2011

Dear Brunch Gang,

I am making my first trip to the NYC area for the Dave Matthews Band Caravan festival at Governors Island this weekend. My time to do sightseeing is limited because I am attending all three days of the festival, but I would love to experience a true New York brunch. Any recommendations for places to brunch before I board the ferry to the show?

Sincerely,
Dancing Nancy

Dear Dancing Nancy,

What a great reason to make your first trip to NYC! The Gang loves DMB. Between the four of us, we’ve seen them over 50 times. They always put on amazing show!

So, “What Would You Say” if I told you that brunching before the shows is an awesome idea? Getting the chance to brunch in NYC isn’t something that you get to experience “Everyday”. And we all know how much food and drinks can cost at a show, so it’s the perfect reason to enjoy brunch before heading over to Governors Island.

Ferry information was just released, and the Manhattan ferry will be leaving from Battery Park. I know it might be easy to get caught up in other areas of the city and “Stolen Away on 55th and 3rd”, but since the ferry terminal is downtown, brunching in Battery Park City will be your easiest option. Your best bets in this area are PJ Clarke’s on the HudsonSouthWestNY, and Merchants River House.

If you’re coming from New Jersey, there will be a ferry leaving from Liberty Harbor Marina in Jersey City. Jersey City has some wonderful brunch options as well. If you find yourself on the other side of the Hudson, check out Light Horse Tavern, Brownstone Diner & Pancake House, and Marco and Pepe.

Get your tix, grab some brunch, and head over to the show!

There’s really nothing like a NYC brunch, and there’s definitely nothing like experiencing DMB live! Combining these two will really make for “The Best of What’s Around”. So grab your “Spoon” and get ready to “Pig” out at brunch And make friends with your “Bartender”, but don’t drink “Too Much” before the show!

Eat, drink, and be merry,
Brunch Gang
