Dear Brunch Gang: Hollandaise sauce

By on August 10, 2011

Dear Brunch Gang,

I decided to stray away from the pancake dish that I usually order and discovered how much I love eating Eggs Benedict during brunch! I know all the ingredients listed for this dish, however, I have never heard of hollandaise sauce. Can you please tell me what is in this sauce?

Sincerely,
Expanding My Palate

Dear Expanding My Palate,

Eggs Benedict

Hollandaise sauce is the warm and creamy sauce found on top of the eggs in the Eggs Benedict dish. This sauce consists of egg yolk, butter and lemon juice. Cayenne pepper is also added for a hint of spice. This sauce is best served warm and is an important component of Eggs Benedict. The taste should complement the eggs and English muffin without overpowering the dish.

Trying different food at brunch is what makes the brunch experience worthwhile! Brunch on!

Bon appetit,
Brunch Gang
